Situated on the East Coast of South Africa lapped by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, East London is approximately midway on the coastal route between Cape Town and Johannesburg and Pretoria and is a good day’s ride from Bloemfontein and Durban.
The HDEL club members are an enthusiastic bunch of people who enjoy riding their bikes, enjoy talking bikes, usually over a beer, and enjoy the long road wherever it may end.
Our regular Monthly Breakfast Ride is held on the 2nd Sunday morning of the month. We meet at the Sasol garage in Abbotsford at 8.30 for a 9am departure. For our breakfast venues, we have a choice of a number of destinations in this made-for-riding part of the Eastern Cape of South Africa. All visitors are welcome.
Our other monthly activity is a "Thunder Ride" every 3rd Wednesday of the month, where we meet at a local pub for a bit of tyre kicking before going for a ride and then having supper, usually at a different venue each month.
Should any visiting riders to East London need assistance or wish to meet up for a ride, or just socialize, feel free to contact Pierre Gonneau on 083 250 4479.

Goodies for Guys Feedback
Dear Pierre
I would like to take this opportunity of saying a very big thank you to you and all the guys who attended Goodies for Guys on Saturday. You definitely added a little sparkle to our Expo. It's always superb to have the HDELs at an event. Thank you for being there. We managed to raise a R1000 through the photos and raffle sheets for Community Chest. Please find attached two photos. |

There are a number of photos available from Foto First if anyone would like to purchase them. Just let them know that you are from Goodies for Guys and the folk at Foto First will be of assistance.
Once again, it was a real pleasure and we thank you. Please pass my thanks on to all the guys who attended.
Kind regards
Belinda

Ladies' Breakfast
Hi Pierre,
Sorry that I don't have more exciting pictures!! Amor Ashby also took some photos, perhaps you could ask her to send you some of hers. The one thing that I forgot to do was to take pictures of the ladies that won the vouchers! my apologies, one always seems to remember these important things after the fact!! Elke (not sure of her surname) won the 'grand' prize, a weekend for two at the Hogsback, Sharon Krull won a R200 meal voucher for Al Mare Restaurant, and Amor Ashby won a manicure from the beauty salon The Girlz @ 86. Well done ladies, enjoy!!
I would like to thank you and the committee for entrusting me with the responsibility of organising the ladies breakfast on Saturday. In my opinion, a very good turn out. The ladies all enjoyed themselves, and if the word gets out, I am sure that there will be an even better response to the next ladies breakfast! The general response is that the ladies would like to have a ladies breakfast introduced as a fixture on our calendar. My suggestion is that it should take place once every quarter, namely, March, June, Sept, Dec.
I would also like to extend my thanks to all the guys who lifted their lovely ladies to the venue on Saturday, and contributing to making it the great, fun morning that it was for all.
Last but not least, to all the ladies for their generous donations to the Journey of Hope Breast Cancer Fund, an enormous thank you!
Regards,
Dee

My but time flies; its subs time again, still at the lowly R 150.00 per person, East London is really spoilt ? we get such a lot of benefit from belonging to a great club for so little. And it?s AGM time, our third;...
